Safety
Due to their integral weight and positioning, these sculptures are much more stable than they appear and will all happily stand unfixed and unaided.
However, as a safety precaution, each block in the Keystone series is fitted with two stainless steel dowels that (if needed) will prevent the blocks from sliding off each other.
As shown in the illustration, the dowels are loose fitting and only come into use if the sculptures are knocked. They don’t fuse the blocks together or compromise the balancing aspect of the sculptures in any way.
The Corten Keystone pieces are also designed to balance, but for safety reasons they are welded together.
The concrete blocks in the Clouds series have the same system and the steel pieces have small, welded locating pins that perform the same function
